Job role: Apprentice Caretaker

Location: The Compass School 

Salary: Apprenticeship wage, £6.40 per hour (minimum wage for their age group from second year)

Contract: Part time, Temporary. 25 hours per week/ 52 weeks per year

Start Date: 01/09/2024 or earlier

Are you ready to change the course of children's lives? We are looking for great people to join the founding team at The Compass School, a small school for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. We are growing and are looking for an amazing apprentice caretaker to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with the motivation and determination to ensure that students make progress, improve their experience of education and prepare them to lead a fulfilling life. 

The Compass School will educate young people between the ages of 7-16 who have a wide range of Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many of the pupils may also be on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Havering and surrounding areas. The school will also be adding to our network of special schools, alongside Sir Peter Hall School, Bury St Edmund’s, Sir Bobby Robson School, Ipswich, The Bridge School, Ipswich and Churchill School, Haverhill. 

You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer advice and guidance as the school moves forward under their leadership. Significant training and development are available through opportunities for professional development, research, teacher training and collaboration between schools and across phases.
