Children’s University Manager 

Location: Central Trust Office, Haverhill / Hybrid homeworking, onsite at Children University Schools and travel to other local schools to expand our client base 

Start date: As soon as possible 

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000pa pro rata depending on relevant experience. Local Government pay scheme. 

Contract type: 12 months fixed term*, part time 0.2 to 0.4 FTE 

*Contract extension is on the basis of your success in maintaining and building a customer base. 

We are seeking an experienced leader to join our central services team to provide strategic leadership of the Children’s University which is transferring from an independent charity to being hosted by Unity Schools Partnership. 

You will ensure that the high-quality service provision is maintained and meets the needs of the children and schools across locality as well as within the Trust. As the Children’s University Manager, you will initially work alongside the current postholder to gain confidence in your role and work on establishing excellent relationships with current customers of the service as well as networking with other schools / trusts within the locality to build the service client base. 

You will have responsibility for fostering and developing learning destination partnerships (for example Essex Book Festival). Work with the trust’s central marketing and finance teams for the better performance of the service including taking advantage of grants and streamlining and digitalising challenge booklets. 

You will work in conjunction with the wider system leadership, Directors of Education and other trust teams to secure excellence in services provided within Suffolk, our Trust and beyond. You will promote and develop the Children’s University local and regional profile, as well as championing high quality learning destinations accessible to all children. 

You will have a busy and varied workload, so if you are a well organised person who thrives on a busy working environment where no two days are the same, we would love to hear from you. 

We would particularly welcome applications from individuals who are: 

• Experienced of working in a school-based environment 

• Customer-centric in your approach to work. 

• Excellent communicators who work in a confidential and discreet manner and are able to think on their feet in a busy working environment. 

• Experienced in the use of IT systems including Microsoft Word and Excel. 

• Adaptable and friendly with strong administration, time management and organisational skills. 

• Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain high level of attention to detail when under pressure. 

• Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently. 

Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover any urgent issues that may arise.
